About the Area

Creekside at Calamus West is right alongside the Calamus River in Nebraska’s beautiful Sandhills. The area offers fantastic opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, with a 5,123-acre lake and miles of surrounding land to hike, hunt, fish, camp, and bird-watch.

Creekside is just 12 miles North on Highway 183 and 2 miles East on Highway 96 of Taylor in Loup County. Taylor is a small village on the Loup River. With unique vignettes of Taylor villagers as they were in the 1900’s, it is a must-visit while you are on vacation.

Eighteen miles southeast of Creekside is the thriving community of Burwell in Garfield County. Burwell is home to Nebraska’s largest rodeo held annually in July. After enjoying a few days on the Calamus Reservoir/River, you may want to travel into town.  There you can schedule a tee time in the morning at Calamus Golf Course, do a little shopping in the afternoon, or catch a movie in the evening.

No matter the activity, you will enjoy your time at the Calamus and Scenic Loup River Valley!
